From her workshop in Bow, East London - armed with a brazing torch, Fiona Gall weaves her magic with fire, glass, lights and hand-crafted bespoke lighting and fine jewellery. Chandeliers are fashioned from broken wine glasses, discarded optical lenses and magnifying glasses, shards of Italian ashtrays and kitsch Sixties decanters. Crystal beads, metal chains and found objects are integrated into dramatic fantastical creations and recent collaborations have included Hermes, Lane Crawford and Terry DeHavilland. Each one of Fiona’s handcrafted creations is a unique piece of functional art. Trawling auction rooms across the globe, she uses her magpie magic for found objects to source a variety of unusual antique and quirky vintage pieces. Glass and sparkling vintage diamante pieces are then combined with wire, glass tubing and sheet metals to create opulent chandeliers, large sculptural plant forms and delicate handbag shaped light pieces and wall lights. A collection has various suspended ceiling and wall lamp versions that work on a smaller more accessible scale are inspired by Art Deco glitz and the glamour of the Odeon theatres.
