Benefit Supervisor Sleeping

Fine art photographer Charlotte Colbert presents ‘Benefit Supervisor Sleeping’, a new large-scale video of Sue Tilley, Lucian Freud’s famed muse who sat over a period of nine months for four paintings and two etchings.

“Big Sue”, the Benefits Supervisor was launched into the public realm through a seminal series of paintings by Lucian Freud and became a record for a living artist at auction, when Roman Abramovich bought it for £35 million in 2008 from Christies, a painting which represented a huge shift in the world economy. Now, Sue Tilley following a recent collaboration of her illustrations with Fendi, she has been immortalised yet again, by Colbert, staged no less than at the original studio where Lucian Freud first painted her.
