Award-winning winery Seresin Estate was founded in New Zealand in 1992 by cinematographer and filmmaker Michael Seresin. Michael’s remarkable portfolio of credits on Academy Award and Golden Globe winning movies include Bugsy Malone, Midnight Express, Foxes, Fame, Angel Heart, Angela’s Ashes, City Hall, Harry Potter - The Prisoner of Azkaban, All Good Things, Dawn of The Planet Of The Apes, Gravity, War for the Planet of the Apes and Jungle Book. Michael explains that overseeing a winery is a constantly shifting equation because of one thing: the weather. Climate and the elements present the challenges, as weather is the one thing that cannot be controlled. In this sense, both entities in which he is involved, film and wine, are driven by light. It is this unpredictability that Michael defines as ‘beautiful chaos’, which ultimately, he believes, is part of the magic. Defining itself as a new world winery with an old world approach, Seresin Estate adheres to every biodynamic and organic tradition, which lends the brand as much of its magic and mystery as well as its implacable credentials.
